Alberta Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association
This is it. The final day of Thoroughbred racing at Northlands Park.
118 years of horses and horsemen have stood in the winner’s circle and after the 89th Canadian Derby this afternoon the last horse will walk off the track.
Last night at the Derby Gala there were some tears, lots of reminiscing, lots of laughs, and many stories about the characters who coloured the backstretch, but mostly there were stories about our horse heroes. We salute all of the horses who passed through the winner’s circle during the last 118 years. We’ll see 12 more stand in the circle today before we say goodbye.
Thanks for the memories!
